The series is a revival of the 1990s Fox series of the same name and is the fifth series in the ''Beverly Hills, 90210'' franchise. The show follows the lives of a group of young adults living at the fictitious Melrose Place apartment complex in West Hollywood, California. ''Smallville'' producers Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer were showrunners of the series.
