Die Sozialkapitaltheorie bietet hierzu Konzepte an, soziale Beziehungen als Determinante in die Wirtschaftstheorie einzubinden. Die Untersuchung berücksichtigt neben der sozialen Vernetzung ebenso das Aufkommen des netzwerkökonomischen Paradigmas. Mit den Themenfeldern Sozialkapital und Netzwerkökonomik verbindet der Autor zwei junge und hochaktuelle wirtschaftliche und gesellschaftliche Bereiche und deren ökonomische Auswirkungen.
