More than 40 years after the promulgation of Law 833, which established one of the most advanced, protective and efficient national health systems, this book reconstructs the founding moments and the most significant innovations from the Unification of Italy to the present day. The historical survey, accompanied by bibliographical references, provides a complete picture of our health system, prior to a critical examination of the issues and prospects for development. An interview with a jurist guides the reader through the interpretation of Article 32 of the Constitution, a pillar of the precious system of health guarantees enjoyed by Italian citizens. Lastly, the text offers an analysis of the last dramatic pandemic, together with an attempt to highlight the current critical issues, offering a modern and reforming reinterpretation of what, until a few years ago, was truly considered the best healthcare system in the world. La ricognizione storica, accompagnata da riferimenti bibliografici, fornisce un quadro compiuto del nostro Sistema sanitario, preliminare all'approfondimento critico dei temi e delle prospettive di sviluppo. Un'intervista ad una giurista guida il lettore nella interpretazione dell'articolo 32 della Costituzione, pilastro del prezioso sistema di garanzie sanitarie di cui godono i cittadini italiani. Il testo propone infine un'analisi dell'ultima drammatica pandemia insieme ad un tentativo di evidenziare le criticità attuali, offrendo una rilettura moderna e riformatrice di quella che, fino a qualche anno fa, era davvero considerata la migliore sanità del mondo.
