Description
Summary:This paper examines the religious orientation of public school districts in a geographical region of the United States known as the Bible Belt. The hypothesis for this study was that public schools located in the Bible Belt would have a sacred religious orientation. If that were true, those public schools would allow religion so long as it was the preferred religion in their surrounding community. It was found that while some school districts did appear to be sacred on a number of issues touching religion, the predominant orientation was to honor all religions but prefer none.
