Description
Summary:Abstract Studies indicate that geometry enables pre-service teachers to link mapping objects in the classroom to real-life situations. Additionally, studies indicated that the proficiency development of the participants is a challenge. The study investigated participants' performance in geometry, and by gender. Also, the study looked at how students' performance in geometry is a predictor for proficiency development of pre mathematical knowledge for teaching among the prospective teachers. Findings revealed that participants have difficulties in solving geometry concepts, male participants outperformed their female counterparts, and about 25% of them are likely to display potential early proficiency in their mathematical knowledge for teaching.
