Summary:Background: Time is a vital resource for all operational procedures, and it is particularly crucial for healthcare workers since it impacts patient safety, service quality, and healthcare service delivery to patients which can make or break their lives. Therefore, the aim of this study was to asses time management practices and associated factors among health professionals working in public hospitals in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in 2022. Methods: A facility-based cross-sectional study including 380 study participants was conducted. Respondents were chosen using a simple random sampling procedure. A bivariate and multivariable logistic regression analysis was applied to discover variables affecting time management practice. Finally, statistical association was declared using a p-value of <0.05 and 95 % confidence interval. Results: The result showed that the level of good time management practice among healthcare professionals was 58.9 % (95 % CI: 54-63.8 %). Moreover, punctuality (AOR 3.705, 95 % CI: 2.408, 5.701), planning (AOR = 3.783, 95 % CI: 2.443, 5.858), recognition and promotion (AOR = 3.498, 95 % CI: 2.279, 5.372), procrastination (AOR = 0.532, 95 % CI: 0.325-0.868), and marital status (AOR = 1.689, 95 % CI: 1.117-2.553) had significant association with good time management practices. Conclusion: The time management practice of health professionals was found to be poor. Moreover, good time management practice was associated with marital status, punctuality, procrastination, promotion, and planning. As a result, hospital administrators must devise a strategy that includes facilitating further education, promotion, and prioritization of short- and long-term training opportunities.
