Summary

Na reflexão que aqui apresentamos, em torno do direito à Língua em contextos de diversidade linguística na Escola, guiaram-nos as seguintes preocupações: A sensibilização para a diversidade linguística e cultural; A necessidade de formar cidadãos plurilingues e pluriculturais; A premência em consciencializar os educadores para o facto de a diversidade linguística poder ser encarada não como um obstáculo, mas antes como um recurso para o enriquecimento do processo de aprendizagem; O reconhecimento do valor de línguas maternas com baixo estatuto social visando a valorização da própria identidade do falante; A necessidade de o educador conhecer e saber adequar estratégias, materiais e actividades no apoio a situações de diversidade linguística. Our reflection around the right to Language in contexts of linguistic diversity in the school was guided by the following concerns: The awareness of the linguistic and cultural diversity; The need to create multilingual and multicultural citizens; The need to raise the educators' awareness of the fact that linguistic diversity may be seen not as an obstacle but as a resource for enriching the learning process; The importance of recognizing the value of mother tongues with low social status in the appreciation of the speaker's own identity; The need for the teacher to know and learn to adapt strategies, materials and activities when supporting situations of linguistic diversity.
