Five popular applications (Duolingo, Babbel, Rosetta Stone, Memrise, and Busuu) were analyzed in an experimental group through standardized tests and qualitative evaluations, before and after a study period. The results showed that students who used these apps experienced significant improvements in their language skills compared to a control group. Interactivity, personalization and gamification were identified as the main contributions to these positive outcomes, with gamification highlighted as a crucial driver of motivation. Nonetheless, the study also emphasized the need for a more robust pedagogical design in the apps to equitably address all language areas. | ||
