The use of targeted therapies is based on biomarkers and specific targets that are identified by different methods. The presence of rs7816345 polymorphism seems to be involved in tumorigenesis. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between rs7816345 polymorphism (close to ZFN703 gene) and the incidence of breast cancer in the East Azerbaijan population. Materials & Methods: In this study, 100 blood samples from patients with breast cancer and 100 blood samples from healthy persons as the control group were selected. Then, the DNA was extracted from all samples. In the next step, the specimens with specific primer were amplified by PCR. Finally, PCR products were treated with TaqI restriction enzyme and electrophoresed on agarose gel. Data were analyzed by SPSS software version 21 by descriptive and chi-square test.The significance level was considered to be less than 0.05 Results: The percentage of T allele in healthy persons and patients was 44.5% and 69.5%, respectively, and the percentage of allele C was 55.5% and 30.5% in healthy persons and patients, respectively. The results of this study show that the T allele in patients is 25% higher than normal people, and the C allele in patients is 25% lower than healthy ones. Conclusion: There is probably a relationship between the increase in the T allele frequency (25%) and the incidence of breast cancer, because early diagnosis of cancer and breast cancer is the most important step in its treatment. The presence of a marker for early diagnosis before disease progression and even informing the healthy person of having a potential for breast cancer can be very promising and have new hopes for discovery and create new ways to cope with cancer in the world.
