Summary:<p>To understand the place of the Institute of the Dorothean Sisters after the establishment of the first Republic (1910), we must examine historically two central topics: 1. The relations between state, Church and religious orders in the 19th century and the early 20th century. XX and, 2. the problems of education in the liberal system, in the Constitutional Monarchy and in the Republic. In a time of modernity, secularism and secularization, understood as a process of empowerment between the political and the religious fields, the aim is to place the educational project of the Dorothean Sisters in a broad context.</p>
