Summary:Abstract Objective: To analyze the use of the body map storytelling method sustained by Bourdieu's critical theory. Method: We present the basis of the method and describe our application experience on research about bodily practices in the health promotion field. Results: The 18 participants shared their experiences starting from the design of the body and the inclusion of artistic elements. Based on the discussion of body and health it was possible to relate bodily practices to life conditions, and the social context of participants. Data suggest that the body manipulation legitimate the agents' bodies for conformation and social acceptance. The different hexis elaborate the bridge between the body and social conditions. Conclusion and implications for practice: The realization of the body map storytelling with Bourdieu's theory contribution allows the comprehension of sociological contents, essential to nursing and health research.
