Summary:Cognitive dysfunction in postmenopausal women reduces their quality of life, social and family adaptation and can lead to complications such as dementia including Alzheimer's disease. Results of the studies on the potential of hormone replacement therapy in prevention of this group of disorders are controversial and require further investigation. However, following healthy lifestyle, certain diets as well as regular physical and mental activity can minimize the risks of dementia and ensure normal mental performance in old age.
