| Summary: | Este artigo tem por objetivo conceitualizar o extermínio enquanto fenômeno político, trazendo esta reflexão para o campo da Saúde Pública. Parte-se de uma análise diferenciadora dos conceitos de homicídio e de extermínio. Em seguida caracteriza-se a dinâmica desta prática enquanto processo político, social, ético e moral, transcendendo ao ato final de execução das vítimas. Especifica-se o extermínio na realidade brasileira e a sua relação com o contexto social no qual este fenômeno é gerado.<br>This paper aims at conceptualizing the extermination of humans as a political phenomenon, focusing on the issue within the field of public health. The article begins by distinguishing between the concepts of extermination and homicide. The dynamics of this practice are then characterized as a political, social, ethical and moral process, transcending the final act of executing the victims. Extermination is specified within the Brazilian reality, that is, through its relationship to the social context in which it is generated. |
