Summary: | : The transposition of the São Francisco river is a project of integration of its hydrographic basin with those of the Northeast, involving the states of Ceará, Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte and Pernambuco in a process of water synergy, benefiting irrigation through channels, reaching Two axes of the northeastern region; The north axis that reaches the cities of Pernambuco, Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará; And, the east axis that covers regions of the agreste Pernambucano and Paraíba. The objective of this work was to present a physical picture of the Northeastern region, a bibliographical survey to understand the São Francisco River transposition project and repercussions on the environment and to address water reuse. Knowledge of the situation in the northeastern region leads to an understanding of the low rainfall and the importance of the São Francisco river, with social contradictions surrounding its transposition, having seen the environmental impacts arising and supported in social aspects. The environmental management of the semi-arid region is based on social, political and economic parameters discussed in seminars and popular assemblies among those who know the basin of the São Francisco river and the consequences of its transposition in its axes fixed in the project. This transposition proposes the water supply of cities that suffer from the consequences of droughts, however the obstacles marked by an incompatible infrastructure with the regional physical structure, generate social conflicts around the stabilization of the quantity and quality of the water coming from the transposition, being Reflected in the flow of the river that in some points becomes insufficient. Given this socio-environmental framework, there are debates in the organization of government policies, plans and strategies to ensure the performance of the work. |
