Summary: | This paper aims to study sports at school and its educational principles from the Second Time Program integrated into the More Education Program (PST-PME). The central issue of the study is to analyze the theoretical assumptions and principles of sports from the social sports programs which are part of the public policies focused on sports and leisure. The study is based on a documental analysis. We use theoretical references in the field of sports, social programs and sports projects and the documents of the PST-PME programs revealing their objectives and theoretical assumptions. Thus, we highlight that the PST-PME constitutes a space in which children at social risk can play, play and have fun through sports. In this sense, sport is seen as a means to occupy idle time and ease social ills. We conclude that sport and its development through social programs and projects, linked to the school, contribute to the accomplishment of actions that aim to meet the needs and interests of the population and that these programs were also created with the purpose of fomenting sports practices in times of sports mega events. Keywords: Physical Education; Sport; Public policy; Sports mega events. |
