This review implies the factors affecting relapse and the actual retention procedures, which are applied after fixed orthodontic treatment. ÖZET Retansiyon, ortodontik tedavi sonuçlarının korunması amacıyla uygulanan prosedürleri kapsar ve tedavinin ayrılmaz bir parçasıdır. Retansiyon sonrası dönemde görülen relaps büyüme paterni, orijinal malokluzyonun tipi, tedavi şekli gibi pek çok faktörden etkilenir. Bu derlemede relapsı etkileyen belli faktörler ve sabit ortodontik tedavi sonrasında uygulanan güncel retansiyon prosedürleri detaylı bir biçimde incelenecektir.
