Summary:Helicobacter pylori infection is recognized as a worldwide problem causing gastric diseases. A comprehensive understanding of epidemiological trivia of H. pylori infection is very important in solving the patho-physiological enigma, better management and prognosis of infection. This review focuses on the literature regarding the epidemiology and public health implications targeting H.pylori in drinking water. Drinking water sources both of surface and groundwater are contaminated with coliforms due to human activities like improper disposal of municipal and industrial effluents. These factors also violate the WHO water quality parameters. Prevalence rates vary widely between different geographical regions and socioeconomic strata of Pakistan.
