Summary:Acute febrile illness caused by multiple infectious etiologies is not uncommon, especially in endemic countries like India. Recently, there has been increased mortality with chikungunya infection in children. There are several studies of coinfection of chikungunya with dengue, but coinfection with rickettsial infection is rare. We describe a 14-year-old boy presenting with chikungunya with probable rickettsial coinfection with a fatal outcome.
