Summary: | Abstract: The Character Education in Social Studies. The rapid change of life promotes conflict and degradation of values and character of the nation. Empowerment toward values and characters of the nation is necessary through inculturation or education. This study describes the implementation of sosial studies education for values and character empowerment. A qualitative approach is used in this study. The researcher conducted documentary studies, observations, interviews, and discussions. The data were analized and checked by triangulation. The results show that Social Sudies teachers have a good understanding and performance in teaching values and character education in Social Studies, supported by activities outside of the classroom such as Ma'had Madany, additional programs and a number of extracurricular activities. They need to strengthen their understandings, awareness, and performance. They are the role models and living examples for students. The results constitute useful input for schools in implementing any curricula emphasizing character education. Perubahan kehidupan terjadi dengan cepat; muncul berbagai bentuk konflik dan degradasi nilai-nilai dan karakter bangsa. Diperlukan pemberdayaan kepemilikan nilai-nilai dan karakter bangsa melalui proses pembudayaan dan pendidikan. Perlu diketahui bagaimana pendidikan Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial (IPS) memerkuat nilai dan karakter generasi penerus. Digunakan pendekatan kualitatif. dikumpulkan data melalui kajian dokumen, observasi, wawancara, angket, dan diskusi. Dilakukan analisis data, uji keabsahan data dengan proses triangulasi. Diketahui bahwa guru IPS telah memahami dan melaksanakan pendidikan nilai dan karakter dengan baik, yang dikuatkan oleh berbagai kegiatan di lingkungan sekolah seperti Ma'had Madany, program pendidikan tambahan dan berbagai kegiatan ekstrakurikuler. Pemahaman, kesadaran dan kinerja pimpinan, guru dan personel madrasah perlu terus ditingkatkan; mereka adalah role model atau living example bagi siswa dalam menumbuh kembangkan nilai-nilai dan karakter. Hasil penelitian ini menjadi masukan bagi lembaga pendidikan setara dalam menerapkan kurikulum yang menekankan pentingnya pendidikan karakter.
