Summary:This article presents an analysis of cooperation between A. Butovsky and Pierre de Coubertin initiator of the revival of the Olympic Games in modern conditions and formation of the International Olympic Movement, including mutual influence of their views on that range of problems, Alexey Butovsky's participation in the preparation and holding of the constituent congress in 1894 in Paris, inclusion of General Butovsky (on Coubertin's initiative) in the first staff of the International Olympic Committee elected at that Congress and his presence as one of the members of the IOC at the Games of the I Olympiad, which took place in 1896 at Athens, are examined. Different aspects of those events that were fascinatingly recounted and deeply interpreted by A. Butovsky in his work "Athens in the spring of 1896" are studied. It is marked that the idea of international Games answered the vital necessity of modern humanity, necessity of physical and moral revival of the young generation.
