Summary: | Aim: to reflect on the determinant aspects to the maintenance/reinsertion of the elderly in the labor market, considering the implications to gerontological nursing. Method: a theoretical-reflexive study about the elderly in the labor market and its repercussions on the practice of gerontological nursing. Results: there is a growing presence of the elderly in the labor market due to the need to maintain the social role, social security issues, loss of purchasing power and the need to provide for the family, thus making the demands of care in the area of gerontological nursing, that must contemplate aspects related to the working environment and the aging process. Conclusion: gerontological nursing has many possibilities to provide its skills and competences in the area of worker health, focused on the specificities of the elderly worker with a focus on strengthening the knowledge related to the triad aging/old age/work. |
