Surface preparation for bonding to porcelain and gold
Porcelain and porcelain/gold crowns must at times bear orthodontic attachments. The influence of surface preparation by grinding, and by priming with two different brands of silane agent, on the shear bond strength of a BIS-GMA resin bonded to discs of both porcelain and gold by means of circular me...

The influence of surface preparation by grinding, and by priming with two different brands of silane agent, on the shear bond strength of a BIS-GMA resin bonded to discs of both porcelain and gold by means of circular mesh brackets was determined. The bond to ground, primed gold was about one third that to primed porcelain, both glazed and ground. The silane primers increased the strength of the resin/porcelain bond to a level such that preliminary porcelain grinding is unnecessary. | ||
