Description
Summary:Abstract The approach to delirium is complex and multi-faceted. To ensure a consistent level of understanding, the Department of Anesthesia and Division of Gerontology Geriatric Medicine at UMMSM collaborated to create this multimedia training module for anesthesia house staff and students in the anesthesia rotation. The multimedia module introduced concepts related to the epidemiology, diagnosis, and management of delirium in the postoperative patient, and raised awareness of the inherent dangers of this syndrome to the outcomes of older individuals. Throughout the module there are practice exercises to give learners an opportunity to apply their new knowledge. Many of the details of management of particular illnesses that cause delirium are beyond the scope of this module.
