Description
Summary:Furcal perforation is an unfortunate incident that can occur during root canal therapy or post preparation of mutlirooted teeth. Studies have shown that the materials currently used to repair those iatrogenic accidents are inadequate. The poor prognosis of furcation perforations is probably due to bacterial leakage or lack of biocompatibility of repair materials. On the basis of the recent physical and biological property studies of the newly introduced mineral trioxide aggregate, this material may be suitable for closing the communication between the pulp chamber and the underlying periodontal tissues.
