El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar cuáles son las preferencias que tienen los visitantes del Parque Zoológico Caricuao hacia los animales, las exhibiciones y las actividades que allí se realizan con el fin de dar orientaciones para una adecuada gestión educativa ambiental. Las preferencias fueron determinadas en los visitantes a través de entrevistas y prueba de pares de fotos. La preferencia faunística se centró en mamíferos y aves. Las exhibiciones favoritas coincidieron con las de las especies que más gustaron, independientemente del tipo de recinto en el que se encontraban. Las actividades seleccionadas fueron de tipo recreativo: experiencias contemplativas y de interacción con los animales. La consideración de las características reactivas de los animales y la satisfacción de las necesidades recreativas del usuario son elementos que apoyarían el acierto de las acciones educativas ambientales del zoológico.<br>The objective of this study is to analyze the preferences of the Parque Zoologico Caricuao visitors towards animals, displays and activities in the park. Visitors' preferences were analyzed in order to suggest practical implications for suitable environmental education management within the park. Preferences were determined interviewing visitors and testing them using a pair photo test. Mammals and birds, as well as their displays were preferred by visitors regardless of the kind of enclosure where animals were. The selected activities were of the recreational type: contemplative and interactive experiences. Considering the animals' reactive characteristics and the fulfillment of the visitors' recreational needs would make more effective the environmental education programs at the zoo.
