A trajetória de vida de Georg Black, considerado o precursor da Educação Física e dos Esportes no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, foi marcada por muitas realizações. Por sua relevante contribuição na propagação da ginástica alemã nos clubes esportivos e nas escolas da comunidade alemã de Porto Alegre e São Leopoldo por mais de 30 anos (1905-1937) é apontado por autores (Daudt, 1952; Hofmeister, 1987) como sendo o "Pai da Educação Física no Rio Grande do Sul". Seu nome é lembrado em alguns lugares da cidade de Porto Alegre: Centro Comunitário Georg Black (CEGEB), Grupo de Escoteiros Georg Black e SOGIPA. O objetivo central do presente estudo foi reconstituir a história de vida de Georg Black no cenário da educação física e esportes do Rio Grande do Sul. Para tanto, as fontes consultadas e submetidas à análise documental foram os livros comemorativos da SOGIPA, Atlas do Esporte no Brasil e no Rio Grande do Sul, jornal da Turnerbund, entre outras fontes impressas. A pesquisa revelou que Georg Black, se inseriu de forma ampla no cenário esportivo, especialmente porto-alegrense, contribuindo para a emergência e difusão de práticas corporais e esportivas diversificadas.<br>The trajectory of life of Georg Black, considered the precursor of the Physical Education and the Sports in the state of the Rio Grande Do Sul, was marked by many accomplishments. For its excellent contribution in the propagation of the german gymnastics in the sporting clubs and the schools of the german community of Porto Alegre and São Leopoldo for more than 30 years (1905-1937), some authors (Daudt, 1952; Hofmeister, 1987) it to it mentions as being the "Father of the Physical Education in the Rio Grande Do Sul". Its name is remembered in some places in the city of Porto Alegre: Communitarian center Georg Black (CEGEB), Group of Escoteiros Georg Black and in some sectors of the SOGIPA. In this way, the central objective of the present study was to reconstitute to the history of life of Georg Black in the scene of the Physical Education and Sports of the Rio Grande do Sul. For in such a way, the consulted sources had been the act books and annual reports of the SOGIPA, commemorative books of this society of gymnastics, Atlases of the Sport in Brazil and the Rio Grande do Sul, Sporting Register of the Rio Grande do Sul, Periodical Post office of the People, among others sources printed. The research revealed that Georg Black, inserted widely in the sports arena, especially Porto Alegre, contributing to the emergence and dissemination the diversified corporeal practices and sports.
