Summary: | Although education evaluation has globally been recognised in 1986 by means of the Educational System Law (LBSE), it has been regulated through specific legislation only during the nineties: Law nº 38/94 (Evaluation Law of Higher Education) and Dec. Law nº 205/98; legislation that has been responsible for the creation of the National Council for the Evaluation of Higher Education. This system of evaluation concerns public and private higher education institutions. In its foundations it aims not only at the improvement of the global quality of the higher education subsystem, at an accurate knowledge and a clear dialogue among institutions, but also at the economic, social and cultural development of our society. |
