Summary: | Research and publication are the hallmarks of scholarship. They provide the evidence to inform our decision-making regarding the provision of a high-quality learning experience. However, in many institutions the proportion of academic staff who are regarded as research active - and publishing accounts of their work - is less than desirable. This article suggests that a Ladder of Publication may provide a framework by which emergent scholars can progress from modest documents, shared with colleagues in a safe environment, to authoritive peer- reviewed publications.
