Description
Summary:Aim of the study: As in any dental treatment procedure and even more in implant treatment, a thorough patient assessment is a prerequisite for adequate planning. Implant prosthesis is a prognostically favourable rehabilitation method, if supported by a correct diagnostic procedure and performed according to rigorous and standardized surgical and prosthetic protocols. Materials and methods: : A number of 20 medical research studies emphasising implant treatment protocol and management were analysed in terms of clinical and surgical steps, occlusion and gnathological rehabilitation. One of the main inclusion criteria was represented by comprehensive protocol and clinical management form the last ten years and for the exclusion criteria, one of them was insufficient data for complete therapeutical plan, and articles that appeared before 2012. Results and Conclusions: Implant-supported restorations provide considerable advantages over other available treatment options and, by limiting the biological sacrifice required in case of fixed or removable prosthesis. Implant treatment can be considered minimally invasive in case of single implants and can be considered a treatment option for the restoration of missing teeth. Nevertheless the clinician must carefully and completely evaluate all the factors involved in order to ensure a long-term predictable outcome.
