Description
Summary:A battery of 8 motor tests has been applied on the sample of 1071 childre (589 boys and 482 girls) in nurseries in the region of Vojvodina. The aim was to analyze the differences in motor abilities between boys and girls, 7-11 years old . By application of t-test for independent samples, it was determined that the boys were significantly better in tests evaluating the coordination of the body and explosive strength, where as the girls were better in flexibility. The authors interpret these differences as due to the boys' tendency to practice more diversified and more intensive forms of movement, and by an increased interest of the girls for quiet and less dynamic games with higher concentration of attention and higher amplitude of movement. In addition, greater differences between boys and girls not only in motor fields but also in other anthropological dimensions can also be explained by the fact that the growth and development trends are higher in boys than in girls.
