Description
Summary:Abstract This resource is a self-guided learning module concerning basic information about medical malpractice. While this topic is not often taught in medical school, this information is critically important with our current medico-legal climate. This resource consists of an instructor guide and PowerPoint presentation for self-guided learning. This module has been successfully utilized using fourth-year medical students rotating in an emergency medicine rotation. It is also provided to all first-year residents prior to starting residency and to all third-year residents prior to graduation. Testing was done prior to the module and provided feedback to the learner. In all instances, the learner's knowledge base concerning malpractice increased significantly as witnessed by test scores.
