El objetivo de este trabajo historiográfico pretende abordar en profundidad la génesis del fútbol bajo el paradigma de las Public Schools en la Inglaterra de la segunda mitad del siglo XX. En nuestro artículo nos haremos eco de la importancia de la reforma pedagógica que aconteció en Inglaterra durante el reinado de Victoria, época conocida como victoriana. De esta manera el trabajo pretende desde una perspectiva hermenéutica dar a conocer al lector los verdaderos inicios que culminaron con la normativización de una serie de reglas que unificaron las diversas tendencias que se desarrollaron y aparecieron en Inglaterra y que dieron lugar a las primeras competiciones oficiales del fútbol. Como segundo objetivo y mediante la utilización de fuentes secundarias extraídas de archivos históricos ahondaremos en la figura del clérigo y pedagogo Thomas Arnold como precursor del deporte en el seno de las escuelas públicas inglesas. En el artículo también pretendemos hacernos eco del papel trascendental que jugó la Iglesia anglicana en la difusión del fútbol en el marco de la sociedad victoriana de la Inglaterra del siglo XIX. Como conclusión comentar como la Iglesia entendió, que la práctica del fútbol podía ser un buen mecanismo de evangelización de las clases proletarias, de esta manera aparecieron entidades como Christian Movement, Christian Muscular o la organización YMCA. Abstract: The aim of this historiographical work aims to address in depth the genesis of football under the paradigm of Public Schools in England in the second half of the twentieth century. In our article, we will echo the importance of educational reform that took place in England during the reign of Victoria, known as the Victorian era. Thus the work aims from a hermeneutic perspective to inform the reader the true beginnings that led to the standardization of a set of rules that unified the various trends that developed and appeared in England and led to the first official competitions Football. As a second objectiv and using secondary sources drawn from historical delve into the figure of the priest and educator Thomas Arnold as a precursor of sport within English public schools. The article also intend to echo the vital role played by the Anglican Church in the dissemination of football in the context of Victorian society of the nineteenth century England. In conclusion, discuss how the Church understood that playing football could be a good mechanism of evangelization of the working classes, so they were organizations like Christian Movement, Christian Muscular or the YMCA organization.
