Description
Summary:Summary: The last fifteen years have witnessed a remarkable increase in the reported cases of Lemierre's Syndrome (LS), which was once called the forgotten disease. LS manifests as oropharyngitis and a blood stream infection with Fusobacterium necrophorum and internal jugular vein thrombosis. LS is a challenge for clinicians, as it is often difficult to diagnose and is associated with significant morbidity. In recognition of the importance of raising the awareness about rare diseases, herein, we describe a case of LS in a 21-year-old male that was treated successfully after two weeks of hospitalization; we have also included a brief literature review. Keywords: Oropharyngitis, Fusobacterium necrophorum
