Summary: | This study analyses coaches'thinking about talent detection in basketball. The aim of this article is to know what the coaches think about the new direction in the process of discovering new talent, which aspects they observe and which aspects they consider important in this process. To reach this aim, we have divided the investigation in two parts. First of all, we did a general survey of coaches, and secondly, we conducted individual interviews. In general, we observed that the coaches'thinking is in line with the new approach of the talent detection process, "bottom-up", and their concept of talent is very similar to the experts' concepts that we can find in specialized literature. KEY WORDS: Talent, detection, coaches, basketball. |
