Summary: | Reduction in the period of orthodontic treatment is the main goal for the orthodontist. Orthodontic tooth movement is a series of resorption and apposition process, therefore the biochemical agents controlling these events may influence the rate of tooth movement. Besides mechanical force application, studies have been carried out to higher the rate of tooth movement via local or systemic adminstration of these biochemical agents. It is therefore, the main goal of this review to understand the mechanisms of tooth movement and these biochemical agents. |
