"Critical Lessons" is overriding the contributions here, which deal with the discriminating, enlightening, resistant, and innovative functions of critique, in relation to a wide range of social science topics. On the occasion of his departure from the University of Innsbruck, the authors want to express their thanks, appreciation and respect for his scientific and academic achievements in life - also for having opened his eyes to them and many others for some, even uncomfortable truths.

"Kritische Lektionen" sind die hier versammelten Beiträge überschrieben, die sich, bezogen auf ein breites sozialwissenschaftliches Themenspektrum, mit den unterscheidenden, aufklärerischen, widerständigen und innovativen Funktionen von Kritik befassen. Die Autorinnen und Autoren wollen damit Josef Christian Aigner anlässlich seines Abschieds von der Universität Innsbruck Dank, Anerkennung und Respekt für seine wissenschaftliche und wissenschaftspolitische Lebensleistung zum Ausdruck bringen - auch dafür, dass er ihnen und vielen anderen für manche, auch unbequeme Wahrheiten die Augen geöffnet hat.
