Critical theory and theory of society was the research focus represented by Max Preglau at the Department of Sociology, University of Innsbruck to whom this volume is dedicated. Many of those who accompanied his career in Austrian sociology and political science contributed on diverse aspects of this topic. The essays deal with a variety of themes relating to critical theory (Anton Pelinka, Manfred Prisching, Helmut Staubmann), with issues of social change (Gerda Bohmann, Paul Kellermann, Gertraude Mikl-Horke, Heinz-Jürgen Niedenzu, Rudolf Richter) and with the field of psychology, sexuality and love (Werner Ernst, Max Haller, Johann August Schülein). - Kritische Theorie und Gesellschaftsanalyse lautet der Arbeitsschwerpunkt, den Max Preglau über fast vier Jahrzehnte am Institut für Soziologie der Universität Innsbruck vertrat. Ihm ist dieser Band gewidmet, in dem viele seiner Weggefährten in der österreichischen Soziologie und Politikwissenschaft sich mit Aspekten dieses Themas auseinandersetzen.
