The authors have tried to highlight how this might be possible from various perspectives. But beware: they do not have a miracle solution to offer; but a lot of encouragement, which begins with the insight that life can be lived neither as a consequence of science nor of cheap advice from self-appointed experts. But the dignity of one's own life also includes the never surmountable "residual risk" called death. If this "residual risk" is accepted as a chance, then the attitude to which the Gospel of Jesus Christ encourages us has a chance: ""Let us trust in life, because God lives it with us"" (Alfred Delp SJ). From the memory of people who have passed through more radical crises before us, we can grow confidence for present and future challenges. We need this very much, because the next crisis since February 24 has already tightened its grip on us.
