The library as an institution that provides information sources certainly needs a librarian competent in the face of an increasingly technological era. Librarians are someone who is given the task authority and responsibility in carrying out librarian activities at the library both in managing and maintaining the available knowledge and information. Information explosion becomes a challenge as well as references and motivations for librarians to develop their competence to be comereliable librarians who are abletoutilize information technology in the library. Librarian readinessinfacing the explosion of information technology is a question. The existence usage and usefulness of a library can be enjoyed because of the management of a librarian. This paper uses a literature study method with data collection related to discussions from various information sources. Therefore this paper will discuss thereadiness of librarians in the face of theinformation technology era as well as the competencies that must be in the librarian.
