Description
Summary:Based on field observations, during the COVID-19 pandemic, German language teachers in schools and colleges experienced difficulties in planning, implementing and evaluating the learning process. In general, the learners have difficulties during the instruction or implementation phase. Teaching and learning activities that are not possible to conduct as face-to-face instruction reduce the intensity of interaction and communication between the teachers and the learners. This could hinder the delivery of teaching materials, interfere with learner's understanding, reduce learning completeness and ultimately reduce student achievement. With this limitation due to the pandemic, teachers are expected to be able to make problem-solving efforts at all phases of German teaching and learning. Online learning should be designed to be more flexible, but still takes into account the specificities of the learners according to the learner centered approach. This flexibility should also be applied to teaching and learning activities and evaluation, so that all students can achieve optimal learning completeness. This paper aims to describe the difficulties in the learning process of German during the pandemic and identify the efforts made by teachers to overcome these problems
