Penelitian ini bertujan untuk mengungkapkan pengaruh penggunaan pendekatan pemecahan masalah dengan langkah-langkah polya terhadap pemahaman konsep siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan rancangan penelitian the post test only. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP N 3 Satap Jatiroto Wonogiri tahun ajara 2013/2014. Sampel penelitian ini adalah keseluruhan dari populasi yaitu kelas VIII A sebanyak 25siswa sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VIII B sebanyak 25 siswa sebagai kelas kontrol. Data penelitian berdasarkan tes untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemahaman konsep matematika siswa. Instrument penelitian yang diberikan berupa tes dengan tipe uraian. Analisis data menggunkan uji-t dari kedua kelompok diperoleh nilai t hitung sebesar 2.1207, sedangkan t tabel pada taraf signifikan 5% sebesar 2.0106. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan pemecahan masalah dengan menggunakan langkah-langkah polya berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap pemahaman konsep siswa. The purpose of this research is to know the influence problem-solving approach with Polya steps through understanding the concept of the student. This research is a research design experiments with the post test only. The population was eighth grade students of SMP N 3 SATAP Jatiroto Winogiri academy year 2013/2014. The sample was the entire population is a class VIII student as much as 25 experimental class VIII and class B many as 25 students as the control class. The research data is based on tests to determine the influence of students' understanding of mathematical concepts. Research instrument is given in the form of tests with the type description. Data analysis use the t-test of both groups obtained t value of 2.1207, while the t table at 5% significance level of 2.0106. The results showed that the problem solving approach with polya steps significantly affect through understanding of concepts.
