520 |a The purpose of this research is to improve connections and activity of learning mathematics class VIII A SMP Negeri 5 Karanganyar through the application of learning models Discovery Learning. This study includes classroom action research. Class VIII A receiver acts as subject and teacher of mathematics as a subject giver action. Data collection method used is the method of observation, field notes, test methods, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Results of the study is to show an increase in connections and activeness study mathematics. An increase in the ability of mathematical connections can be seen from 1) Being able to recognize and use the relationship between mathematical ideas of (18.18%) increased to (60.61%), 2) Understand how mathematical ideas are interconnected and underlying each other to produce a coherent whole of (12.12%) increased to (60.61%), 3) Being able to recognize and apply mathematics in contexts outside of mathematics (12.12%) increased to (66.67%). An increase in the activity of learning can be seen from 1) Asking questions of (27.27%) increased to (63.64%), 2) Working class exercises ahead of (15.15%) increased to (60.61%). It can be concluded that the application of learning models Discovery Learning in mathematics learning can improve learning activeness connections and mathematics.
