Description
Summary:Injuries can occur while extraction, measures of treatment, the use of chemicals or operator error regarding oral mucosa. The body has a physiological response to the wound healing process. Histological parameters of wound healing can be seen from the amount of fibroblasts. Ethanol extract of aloe vera has active substances to increase the amount of fibroblasts. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of ethanol extract of aloe vera to increase the amount of fibroblasts in the wound healing process of wisar oral mucosa (Rattus norvegiccus) rats. This study is an experimental research laboratory with posttest only control group design. Sample using 27 male wistar rats then divided into 3 treatment groups including the negative control, positive control and ethanol extracts of aloe vera concentration of 70%. All mice were given mucosal injury in the upper right section with punch biopsy 2.5 mm and given appropriate treatment of each group 2 times a day for 9 days. On 5th, the 7th and 9th rats were decapitated and then made histological preparations with HE staining. The amount of fibroblasts is calculated using a microscope with 100x magnification in 5 visual field. The results obtained with two-way ANOVA and LSD. The results showed that the ethanol extract of aloe vera have a significant effect in increasing the number of fibroblasts in the wound healing process of wistar oral mucosa (Rattus norvegiccus) rats with p = 0.000. The ethanol extract of aloe vera showed an increase in the amount of fibroblasts were greater in the process of wound healing compared with Oxoferin and aquadest. Treatment using Oxoferin and aquadest showed the highest amount of fibroblasts on 9th, whereas treatment with ethanol extract of aloe vera concentration of 70% showed the highest amount of fibroblasts on 5th. In conclusion is the ethanol extract of aloe vera effect on the increase in the amount of fibroblasts to wound healing process of rat oral mucosa. The ethanol extract of aloe vera have an increased amount of fibroblasts higher than Oxoferin and aquadest.
