Summary: | Background. The diagnosis of pulmonary TB can be established based on clinical symptoms, bacteriological examination of sputum smear and area of radiology thoracic. But all pulmonary TB patients are not containing Mycobacterium tuberculosis in their sputum. Pulmonary TB patients who have difficulty in producing sputum for sputum smear's examination can be performed chest physiotherapy to improve the quality of sputum. Therefore, this study aims to determine differences in the results of sputum smear examination as extensive lesions of patients with pulmonary TB patients new cases with and without induction of chest physiotherapy expectorated sputum induction. Methods. The study design was experimental by doing measurements with and without treatment in a group without a control group. Obtained 25 samples, then the data is analyzed using t test of two paired groups and Wilcoxon test analysis from SPPS 16.0 for windows with significance level (α) 0.05. Results. Calculation result obtained p value of 0.066 so that H0 accepted and H1 refused indicating there is no significant difference statistically between the sputum smear's examination on spot result of pulmonary TB patients extensive lesions new cases with and without chest physiotherapy expectorated sputum induction in BBKPM Surakarta. Conclusion. From this study that there is no significant difference between the sputum smear's examination on spot result of pulmonary TB patients extensive lessions new cases with and without chest physiotherapy expectorated sputum induction in BBKPM Surakarta. |
