520 |a Background:Someone's nutritional intakes affect the nutritional status of a person. Food consumption of family or community depends on the amount and type of food purchased, cooked, distributed within the family, and eating habits as well as individuals which depend on income, religion, and customs of the community. Objective:To determine the relationship between parents income, physical activity and frequency of consumption of fastfood and nutritional status in primary school students in Primary School Muhammadiyah 1 of Ketelan Surakarta. Research Methods:Observational study with crosssectional design with the number of respondents was 60 students, used Probability Sampling Technique. Subjects in this study were primary school students aged 8-11 years. The data were obtained through interviews using questionnaire and analyzed using Chi Square test. Result:Most obese respondents had parents with incomes more than the minimum wage (53.7%) and whom earned less than the minimum wage had a normal nutritional status children (46.3%) with p value = 1.000, the number of respondents who performed light physical activity and were obese was 52%, and those of normal nutritional status was 48%, with p value = 0.737. Respondents who frequently consumed fast food and were obese amounted to 70.4%, and those of normal nutritional status was 29.6%, with p value = 0.017. Conclussion:Therewas no relationship between parental income and nutritional status. There was no significant relationship between physical activity and nutritional status. There was a relationship between the frequency of fast food consumption and nutritional status. Suggestion:Nutrition program needs to be held at the beginning and end of each term, as a prevention of early overweight or obesity in elementary school students.
