Summary:In the field of Science Biology emphasizes the ability to work scientifically, and the ability to understand the concepts of science and its application in life. The ability to work should be supported by scientific curiosity, work together and to think critically. Biology should be centered learning approach to students. Saintific is one type of learning was instrumental in establishing the student to actively carry out an independent investigation. This study aims to determine differences in the biology of learning outcomes using problem solving and discovery in SMPN 1 Sukoharjo Semester 1 of the school year 2015/2016. This type of research is quantitative research (in the form of data collected in the form of numbers) with advanced test methods ANOVA, its provisions if the significance value of more than 0.05, there is no difference. The results of further analysis ANOVA test that significant value between problem solving and discovery is 0.426 then there is no distinction between classes of problem solving and discovery. The significant value between problem solving and control is 0000 then there is a difference between a class of problem solving and control. The significant value between discovery and control is 0000 then there is a difference between class discovery and control. Based on this description it can be concluded that there are differences in the biology of learning outcomes using problem solving and discovery in SMPN 1 Sukoharjo first semester of the 2015/2016 academic year, but there is no difference between problem solving and discovery.
