| Summary: | Background. People with obesity or having a risk factor more often uste the unhealthy practice of weight loss. Such behavior may put them in a dangerous situation such as eating disorders, malnutrition, impaired growth and emotional disorders such as depression, anxiety, and stress Purpose. The aim of this study is to know about the differential degree of depression between normal weight with overweight to the student in SMA 1 Muhammadiyah Surakarta. Methods. This study uses an observational analytic with cross sectional approach. This research use 43 students with a normal weight and 43 students with overweight. The selection of sample with a purposive sampling technique. The statistical test use t test-unpaired. Results. The average depression score to the students with normal weight is 6,35 while the students with overweight is 9,72. P value (sig) of 0.001 (p < 0,05) it means there is a significant differential between the students with normal weight and overweight. Conclusion. The study concluded that there is significant differential degree of depression between normal weight with overweight to the students in SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta. The students with overweight tend to be more depress than the students with normal weight. |
