Summary:ABSTRACT Khoirul Huda, Q. 100 120 029. The School Committee's Performance at SMP Negeri 2 Kaliwungu Kendal. Thesis. Educational Administration Magistrate, Postgraduate School of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. 2015. The objectives of the research are to describe: 1) the roles and functions of the school committee in supporting the school's programs; 2) the school committee's institutional performance; and 3) the school committee's organizational competence improvement program; and 4) the supporting and inhibiting factors of the school committee to perform its performance and the solution undertaken at SMP Negeri 2 Kaliwungu Kendal. The type of the research is a qualitative research with the design of ethnographic design. The research was undertaken at SMP Negeri 2 Kaliwungu Kendal. The data collecting method is done using observation, in-depth interview, and document techniques. The data analysis is done using interactive model consists of three main components, namely data reduction, data display, and verification. The data validation is done using data triangulation technique. The research concludes that: 1) the school committe is greatly plays its role in supporting the school's programs at SMP Negeri 2 Kaliwungu Kendal. It's roles are showed in its' support to the school's short term, middle term, and long term programs; 2) the school committee's institutional performance are showed in the excellent coordination between the school committee and the school; 3) the school committee's organizational competence improvement is done by sending the committee's members to attend the workshops; and 4) the supporting factor of the school committee in perform its performance are the high commitment of its members and the best cooperation performed by the school. The inhibiting factor confronted by the committee is related to the regulation that proscribe the school to impose any charge to the parents. The solution undertaken is empowering the school committee to push for parental participation in financing the school programs voluntarily.
