520 |a Background : Syzygium samarangense contains flavonoids, stearate, and terpenoids which have an analgesic effect. Objective : to determine the analgesic effect of 70% ethanol extract of pink cultivars (masam manis pink) wax apple (Syzygium Samarangense) leaf were evaluated from the number of writhing in mice with acetic acid-induced. Methods : This study was a laboratorium experimental study with post test only control group design. The objects of study were 25 Swiss male mice, weight 20-30 grams, aged 1-3 months, and divided into 5 groups by simple random sampling, the groups were positive control (Na-diclofenac 10 mg/kgBW), negative control (Aquadest 1 ml), extract dose I (100mg/kgBW), extract dose II (200mg/kgBW), and extract dose III (400mg/kgBW). After applying treatment and pain induced by acetic acid, writhing in mice were observed and calculated (Writhing test). Data were analyzed with statistical test One Way Anova and statistical test LSD (Least Significant Difference). Results : 70% ethanol extract of pink cultivars (masam manis pink) wax apple (Syzygium Samarangense) leaf dose of 100mg/kgBW, 200mg/kgBW and 400mg/kgBW have an analgesic effect by reducing the number of writhing in mice with acetic acid-induced, with a mean number of writhing are 24.60; 23.00; and 20.80, respectively. Based on the results of One Way Anova statistical test, p value = 0.000 (p <0.005) showed significantly different mean of the number of writhing in the fifth group after being treated. Conclusion : 70% ethanol extract of pink cultivars (masam manis pink) wax apple (Syzygium Samarangense) leaf dose of 100mg/kgBB, 200mg/kgBB and 400mg/kgBB have an analgesic effect by reducing the number of writhing in mice with acetic acid-induced. Dose extract 400mg / kg is found to be the most effective dose in reducing the number of writhing.
