Description
Summary:Leaves Eupatorium odoratum L. contain tannin and saponin that has an effect on the healing of open wounds. The aims of this study to determine the effect of changes in the concentration of ethanol extract of Eupatorium odoratum L. leaves in the physical properties of the gel, and know the effect of healing open wounds on the backs of rabbits from the ethanol extract of the leaves kirinyuh formulated in a gel formulation. Gel preparations made 4 formula, namely F1 (gel base control), and gel with 3 variations in the concentration of ethanol extract of leaves Eupatorium odoratum L. F2 (2,5%), F3 (5%) and F4 (10%). Evaluation of gel formulation includes organoleptic test, pH, homogeneity, viscosity, and dispersive power. The results were analyzed with the Kruskal-Wallis test. Gel also time tested healing open wounds in rabbits by the number of 6 rabbits, each rabbit has six trial groups. Open wound healing time data were analyzed statistically with Post hoc test. Kruskal-Wallis test generate significant value by showing increased concentrations of ethanol leaf extract can lower Eupatorium odoratum L. widely spread and increase the viscosity of the gel. Gel of ethanol extract Eupatorium odoratum L. not have the effect of open wound healing in rabbits, with significant value that do not differ significantly (> 0.05) between the gel of ethanol extract Eupatorium odoratum L. leaves 2.5%, 5% and 10% compared to the group without treatment.
